Boy Scouts take on archaeology in Seguin

Guadalupe County area Boy Scouts some of whom are pictured below, are working on a unique

assignment, along with archaeologists from Southern Texas

Archaeological Association. Their goal is to fulfill the

requirements for the archaeology merit badge. Many weekends

this summer and on into the fall they will be collaborating with

Southern Texas Archaeological staff at the Seguin property owned

by Floyd and Jody McKee . The site is an archaeological

project just off Hwy 123 Business, south of Seguin and Starcke

Park Bridge . Describing the ongoing work, John Gesick , Seguin

Heritage Museum Director commented, the joint venture is “really a

one of a kind experience involving their participation; not many

scouts live near an archaeological dig."
The Seguin Boy Scout Troop 317, from Cross Church, Seguin, is

not only on a scout mission, but will contribute to documentation in

part, of Guadalupe County history by this endeavor. Troop

Scoutmaster is Chris Ayotte and Diana Kimble is Assistant

Scoutmaster.(to be continued)
